Application Window: Non-EU/EEA applicants (Nepal) typically apply November 1 – December 1 for autumn intake. Apply directly on each university's portal. Most Oslo universities use their own system; some use Søknadsweb.
Important: Nepal is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, so documents cannot be apostilled. Instead, you must go through a multi-step consular legalization process. Allow 2–4 weeks for the full attestation chain.
Congratulations on your offer! Once you receive your conditional or unconditional offer letter from your Oslo university, you move to the residence permit application. You apply online via UDI (udi.no) before submitting physical documents at VFS Global Kathmandu.
Process: First register and pay online at udi.no, then book an appointment at VFS Kathmandu (Lagankhel, Lalitpur). Applications are forwarded to the Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi for processing. Allow 48–72 hours transit time + up to 3 months processing. VFS service fee: 27 EUR (≈NPR 3,900). UDI fee: NOK 5,900 (~NPR 90,000).
After you arrive: Your residence permit card will be waiting or will be issued by the local police in Oslo. Complete these steps within the first weeks of arrival.
