US universities primarily have Fall (August/September) intake. Apply 8–12 months in advance via each university's portal or Common App. GRE requirements vary by program — verify individually.
Nepal is NOT an apostille country. Documents must go through: Issuing Authority → MoEST (for education) → MoFA. Allow 2–4 weeks.
Once your university issues the I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for F-1), pay the SEVIS fee and the MRV visa fee, then schedule your F-1 interview at the US Embassy Kathmandu (Maharajgunj).
The F-1 Student Visa requires an IN-PERSON INTERVIEW at the US Embassy Kathmandu. Schedule via ustraveldocs.com. Bring all originals — the officer can request any document. Processing: typically same day or 1–5 business days after interview.
On arrival at the US port of entry, CBP will stamp your I-94. Within 15 days of the I-20 program start date, report to your university's International Students Office to activate your SEVIS record. Missing this is a serious status violation.
